Product Information

Name:
3,5-Di(trifluoromethyl)benzamide
Synonyms:
  • 3,5-Bis(trifiuoromethyl)benzamide
  • 3,5-Ditrifluoromethylbenzamide
  • Benzamide, 3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)-
Description:

3,5-Di(trifluoromethyl)benzamide (DTTBA) is a furanone with a chiral center. It is used for the optimization of furanones and as an inhibitor of neurokinin and tachykinin. DTTBA has been shown to inhibit neuronal cells from releasing catecholamines in culture. This inhibition may be due to its ability to act as a chemical inhibitor. DTTBA also inhibits phosphatase activity in mammalian cells by forming a covalent bond with the enzyme, preventing it from functioning. The morphology of DTTBA was studied using zirconium, which showed that it forms crystalline precipitates in water, but not in organic solvents such as ethanol or acetone.
