4-[4-(Diphenylmethyl)-1-piperazinyl]-1-(4-fluorophenyl)-1-butanone is a water-soluble drug that inhibits the energy metabolism of cells. It has been shown to cause neuronal death and inhibit the production of p-hydroxybenzoic acid, an inorganic acid involved in the process of cellular oxidation. 4-[4-(Diphenylmethyl)-1-piperazinyl]-1-(4-fluorophenyl)-1-butanone also inhibits the activity of papillary muscle, cytosolic calcium, and intracellular calcium concentration. 4-[4-(Diphenylmethyl)-1-piperazinyl]-1-(4-fluorophenyl)-1-butanone is used to treat cardiac diseases such as myocardial infarction and angina pectoris. It has also been shown to be effective against cerebral disorders such as Parkinson's disease
