1-[3,4-Dihydroxy-5-(Hydroxymethyl)Oxolan-2-Yl]-5-Fluoro-Pyrimidine-2,4-Dione (1,5F5FD) is an anti-cancer compound that belongs to the class of cytotoxic drugs. It inhibits the methyltransferase enzyme and is active against a variety of carcinoma cell lines. 1,5F5FD has been shown to have potent antitumor activity in animal models. The drug also has prodrug properties with oral bioavailability and can be used as a chemotherapeutic agent for cancer patients.
