(Pyridin-2-ylmethyl)phosphonic acid is a phosphonate antibiotic that inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to and inhibiting the activity of bacterial enzymes. (Pyridin-2-ylmethyl)phosphonic acid also exhibits antimicrobial resistance, which may be due to its ability to activate effector proteins. The molecular pathogenesis of (pyridin-2-ylmethyl)phosphonic acid is not well understood, but it is believed to inhibit DNA replication, leading to cell death by apoptosis.
