Product Information
(Pyridin-2-ylmethyl)phosphonic acid is a phosphonate antibiotic that inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to and inhibiting the activity of bacterial enzymes. It has been shown to be clinically relevant against human pathogens, and has been shown to be active against methicillin-resistant strains in vitro. (Pyridin-2-ylmethyl)phosphonic acid also exhibits antimicrobial resistance, which may be due to its ability to activate effector proteins. This drug has been shown to inhibit the methyl transferase enzyme and can be used for diagnosis or signal generation in cancer. The molecular pathogenesis of (pyridin-2-ylmethyl)phosphonic acid is not well understood, but it is believed to inhibit DNA replication, leading to cell death by apoptosis.
