Product Information

Name:
Polymyxin B1 Isoleucine
Description:

Polymyxin B1 Isoleucine is a hydrophilic antimicrobial agent that has an inverting effect on the osmotic pressure of cells. It has been shown to be effective against biofilms and microbial cells by preventing the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines. Polymyxin B1 Isoleucine also prevents the formation of microspheres that are used in medical devices and other applications. The constant chloride concentration on the surface of these microspheres allows for iontophoresis, which can be used to deliver drugs into tissue or cells. Polymyxin B1 Isoleucine acts as a surface active agent, increasing the permeability of cell membranes due to its lipophilicity, and therefore can be used in topical treatments such as iontophoresis therapy.
