3-(4-Nitro-phenyl)-propionaldehyde is an aldehyde that can be used as a biocatalyst in microbial biotransformation. 3-(4-Nitro-phenyl)-propionaldehyde has been shown to have acidic properties and is resistant to hydrolysis by acid and base. It is also stereoselective, which means it reacts preferentially with one of the two enantiomers of a molecule. 3-(4-Nitro-phenyl)-propionaldehyde is used for the production of trifluoroacetic acid, which is used for the synthesis of pharmaceuticals and dyes. This molecule can be produced from the fermentation of p. pastoris at temperatures between 20°C and 30°C.
