Description:

2-Hydrazino-4,7-dimethyl-1,3-benzothiazole (HMTB) is a corrosion inhibitor that has been shown to be effective in the inhibition of corrosion by alkali metals and inorganic salts. HMTB is used as a corrosion inhibitor for metal surfaces and it has been found to be efficient in a range of environments including those with high humidity and low temperatures. This compound has also been found to inhibit the growth of bacteria on metal surfaces. The mechanism of this inhibition is not yet fully understood but it may be due to the prevention of bacterial cell growth through competitive inhibition of metabolic pathways.
