14β-Benzoyloxy-2-deacetylbaccatin VI is a taxane that is found in the bark of Taxus cuspidata. It has been shown to have potent cytotoxicity against cancer cells, which may be due to its inhibition of protein synthesis and DNA transcription. This compound also has significant cytotoxicity against MCF-7 breast cancer cells, with IC50 values of 1.5 μM and 2.0 μM for the human breast cancer cell line MDA-MB231, respectively. 14β-Benzoyloxy-2-deacetylbaccatin VI is an anti-cancer drug that belongs to the group of paclitaxel analogues. The biosynthesis starts with a 20 carbon polyketide chain, which is then modified by two oxetanes and a series of reactions that form the final product.
