N-Ethylethylenediamine is a diamine that is used for the manufacture of ethylene glycol. It has a reactive structure and reacts with metal hydroxides, such as copper(II) hydroxide, to form metal complexes. These complexes are then hydrolyzed by inorganic acids, yielding the corresponding metal amine complex. The reaction mechanism of N-Ethylethylenediamine with metal hydroxides is rather complicated and requires more study.
