Ethyl dichlorophosphite is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of polybasic compounds. It is an oily liquid with a colorless to light yellow color and an odor like chloroform. Ethyl dichlorophosphite is used as a pharmaceutical preparation for the treatment of infectious diseases, such as cancer. It reacts with amines and fatty acids under basic conditions to form reaction products. The alkoxy radical reacts with hydrogen chloride in the presence of chlorine to give hydrogen chloride and alkoxy chloride. This compound also has high reactivity with fluorine, which can cause its decomposition into hydrogen fluoride and phosphite.
