- Ethyl Iodofluoroacetate
Ethyl fluoroiodoacetate is an enolate that binds to the phosphite ion and forms a plutella. It is used as a medicinal preparation for the treatment of agricultural pests such as plutella, aphids, and thrips. This chemical has been shown to have stereoselective properties, with the erythro-isomer being more active than the threo-isomer. The pharmacokinetic profile of ethyl fluoroiodoacetate has been studied in rats and mice, with it showing good stability in plasma and fat tissues. This chemical also had good stability during storage in various solvents. Ethyl fluoroiodoacetate is metabolized by oxidation at the alkynyl group or by hydrolysis of the ester bond, followed by reduction at the terminal alkyne. The resulting diastereomers can be separated using column chromatography on silica gel or adsorption chromatography on alumina.
