Ethyl 3,3,3-trifluoropropanoate is a synthetic compound that can be produced by the efficient method of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The reaction rate is very fast and the reaction mechanism is not well understood. The product of this synthesis has been shown to have anticancer activity in a tumor cell line. It also reacts with hydrochloric acid to form ethyl trifluoroacetate and hydrogen chloride gas. This compound can be used as a solvent in organic synthesis, or recycled for use as an industrial chemical.
