Description

1-Ethyl-4-isocyanatobenzene (1EICB) is a nonselective alkylating agent that forms hydrogen bonds with hydrophobic sites on the substrate. It has been shown to have an uptake of 1.2% in rats and is excreted through urine, feces, and exhaled air. 1EICB interacts with amines, which are nucleophilic compounds that react by donating electrons. The reaction rate of 1EICB with amines depends on their concentration and their ability to form hydrogen bonds. The reaction time for 1EICB is about 5 hours at 25°C. The chemical structure of 1EICB consists of a benzene ring connected to an ethyl group via an isocyanate group. The molecular weight of this compound is 144 g/mol.
