Ethyl 4-isocyanatobenzoate is a monoclonal antibody that binds to the surface of hl-60 cells, an aggressive type of leukemia. It blocks the synthesis of serotonin and other neurotransmitters by binding to their receptors. The molecular modeling studies showed that the binding site is located at the interface between two helices in a protein on the surface of cells. This antibody is activated when it binds to its target, which triggers a series of chemical reactions that lead to cell death. The mechanism of action is similar to that of retinoic acid and other anticancer drugs.
