Product Information

Name:
[Ethyl(methyl)amino]acetic acid
Synonyms:
  • glycine, N-ethyl-N-methyl-
Description:

Ethyl (methyl)aminoacetic acid (EMAA) is a functional compound that is used as an anticancer agent. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in vitro. EMAA has also been reported to be cytotoxic to human adenocarcinoma and non-small-cell lung cancer cells, with a mechanism of action that is not fully understood. The FTIR spectroscopy indicates that EMAA interacts with the hydroxyl group on the cisplatin molecule and inhibits its activity by forming a complex. EMAA may also inhibit cell growth through an ester hydrochloride formation, which could inhibit cellular proliferation by inhibiting protein synthesis.
