Ethyl 3-hydroxyquinoxaline-2-carboxylate is a synthetic compound that has been shown to have anticancer properties. It inhibits the growth of cancer cells by binding to lysine residues on the N-terminal tails of histones H3 and H4 and alkylating them. This results in epigenetic changes, such as gene transcription and DNA replication. The compound also binds to chromodomains and prevents the acetylation of histones, inhibiting cancer cell proliferation.
