Description

Ethyl 5-amino-1H-tetrazol-1-yl)acetate is a compound that belongs to the group of insensitive explosives. It has been shown to be insensitive to x-rays and elemental analyses. The structure of this molecule consists of an aminoacetate and a carboxylate group. This chemical is used in the synthesis of other explosives, such as azide, cyanogen and ammonium nitrate. Ethyl 5-amino-1H-tetrazol-1-yl)acetate was also found to have a crystal structure that is sensitive to pressures and anions. The crystal x-ray diffraction analysis of this compound showed it to be different from any other known compounds with the same molecular composition.
