- 2-Ethoxy-Phenyl-Hydrazine
2-Ethoxyphenylhydrazine hydrochloride is a hydrazine compound with the chemical formula C6H8N2. It has an intense yellow colour, but is colourless in concentrated solution. 2-Ethoxyphenylhydrazine hydrochloride is soluble in water and ethanol, but insoluble in ether and benzene. The hydrazine group of this compound reacts with nitrous acid to form a selenious acid derivative, which then undergoes ion exchange reactions to form a selenious salt. 2-Ethoxyphenylhydrazine hydrochloride is sensitive to light and air, and can undergo oxidation reactions that produce a range of coloured compounds.
