Description

Ethyl 3-oxo-3-pyridin-3-ylpropanoate is an oxime derivative that is acidic and has a molecular weight of 176. It is used as an amide, and its malonic acid moiety can be converted to the corresponding acid. The optical rotation of ethyl 3-oxo-3-pyridin-3-ylpropanoate is +115°. It has been shown to have antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, and Proteus mirabilis. Ethyl 3-oxo-3-pyridin-3-ylpropanoate also has antiplatelet properties and can inhibit the aggregation of platelets in blood vessels.
