Description:
1-Ethyl-5-methoxy-1H-indole-3-carbaldehyde is a hydrazone that has been shown to be an inhibitor of protein synthesis in vitro. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacterial cells and fungi, including Candida albicans, by inhibiting DNA gyrase, topoisomerase IV, and RNA polymerase. The compound also inhibits the formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and the production of hydrogen peroxide by ROS.
