Description

Ethyl 2-hydroxyimino-3-oxobutanoate (EHIO) is a chromatographic method for the separation of hydrochloric acid and its derivatives. It is also used as an antiplatelet drug in clinical use. EHIO has molecular weight of 176.2 g/mol and has been shown to have antiplatelet effects, which may be due to its ability to inhibit serine proteases such as thrombin, factor Xa, and factor XIIa. EHIO binds to the active site of these enzymes by competitive inhibition and prevents them from catalyzing reactions that would result in the formation of thrombin, a key step in the coagulation cascade. Ticagrelor is an antiplatelet medication that inhibits P2Y12 receptors on platelets through competitive inhibition with ADP or other nucleotides.
