Description

2-Ethoxy-4,6-dichloropyrimidine is a triazolopyrimidine that can be synthesized by reacting diethyl ester with phosphorus oxychloride in the presence of an organic solvent. It is used as a solvent and intermediate in the synthesis of other compounds. 2-Ethoxy-4,6-dichloropyrimidine is also used as a reagent for the conversion of sulfonanilides to sulfones and for the preparation of hydrogen sulfate from hydrogen chloride and sulfur dioxide. This compound has been listed as a potential carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC).
