4-Ethynylbenzaldehyde is an organic compound that has a nucleophilic reactivity and can be used in synthetic chemistry. This chemical can form imine bonds with amines or ammonia, which are common functional groups found in amino acids and proteins. The interaction between the aldehyde group on the benzene ring and the alkynyl group on the ethynyl group leads to a strong hydrogen bond between these two groups.
