Description:

N-Ethyl-2-nitroaniline is a nitroaniline compound that is synthesised by the reaction of ethyl nitrite with 2-methylaniline. N-Ethyl-2-nitroaniline is used as a stabiliser in propellants and explosives. Nitrosyl chloride and halide react with the amine to form an alkyl halide, which reacts with nitrous acid to form the desired product. This method has been shown to be more efficient than other methods of synthesis due to its high yield.
