3-(Ethoxymethylene)pentane-2,4-dione is a chemical that belongs to the group of diphenyl ethers. It has been shown to bind to the biphenyl molecule and form a chelate ring with a hydrogen bond. 3-(Ethoxymethylene)pentane-2,4-dione has been found to be an active tetranuclear compound in the presence of chloride ions and hydrogen chloride gas. This chemical is also able to coordinate with metal ions such as copper(II). 3-(Ethoxymethylene)pentane-2,4-dione has shown nucleophilic properties in the presence of pyrazoles and hydrogen chloride gas. This chemical also has unpaired electrons that are available for bonding.
