Description

[(1-Ethylpyrrolidin-3-yl)methyl]amine dihydrochloride is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial that is active against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, mycobacteria, fungi, and viruses. It has been shown to be effective against many drug resistant strains of bacteria. [(1-Ethylpyrrolidin-3-yl)methyl]amine dihydrochloride inhibits the growth of microorganisms by binding to high affinity sites on the microbial ribosome. This binding prevents the synthesis of proteins essential for cell division and results in bacterial death. The microbe's ability to degrade the drug is limited by its inability to synthesize new DNA from iron oxides.
