Description:
Ethyl 5-acetyl-2-methyl-3-furoate is a semicarbazone that has been shown to have oxidized, furan ring and functional group. The compound is an ester of acetic acid and 2,5-furandione. It is a selenium containing compound. Ethyl 5-acetyl-2-methyl-3-furoate has been found to be effective against methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Clostridium perfringens, but not against Mycobacterium tuberculosis or Mycobacterium avium complex.
