Product Information
- carbamic acid
- (4-amino-3-nitrophenyl)-
- ethyl ester
Ethyl 4-amino-3-nitrophenylcarbamate is a nitro compound that is used as a precursor for the synthesis of other nitrogen compounds. It can be synthesized by cyclisation of ethyl 3-nitrobenzoylcarbamate and methylsulphonyl chloride. The product contains an acyl group esterified to the amine group, which reacts with hydrochloric acid to produce an acyl chloride. The acyl chloride then reacts with nitric acid to produce ethyl 4-amino-3-nitrophenylcarbamate. Ethyl 4-amino-3-nitrophenylcarbamate hydrolyses to give an n-oxide, which can be reduced to a primary amine and an amide, or oxidised back to the original carbamic acid.
