Ethyl 4-acetylamino-phenoxyacetate is a triazole derivative that has been shown to be cytotoxic in flow cytometric assays and have anti-cancer properties. It is structurally related to triazoles, which are heterocyclic rings containing three nitrogen atoms (triazole). This active compound has also been shown to inhibit the production of caspase-3, an enzyme involved in the apoptotic pathway. It can be used as a potential therapeutic agent for cancer treatment. Ethyl 4-acetylamino-phenoxyacetate is synthesized by reacting ethyl acetoacetate with 2-(4'-aminophenoxy)ethanol in the presence of potassium carbonate and DMAP.
