Product Information

Name:
Ethyl (4-formyl-2-nitrophenoxy)acetate
Synonyms:
  • acetic acid
  • (4-formyl-2-nitrophenoxy)-
  • ethyl ester
Description:

4-Formyl-2-nitrophenoxyacetate is a potent inhibitor of the phosphodiesterase enzyme. It has been shown to inhibit the production of inflammatory cells in pulmonary diseases and rheumatoid arthritis. Inhibition of phosphodiesterase leads to increased levels of cAMP, which is a second messenger that activates protein kinase A (PKA) and protein kinase C (PKC). This activation inhibits the production of inflammatory molecules, including leukotrienes, prostaglandins, and cytokines. 4-Formyl-2-nitrophenoxyacetate also inhibits the production of messenger RNA (mRNA), which may contribute to its anti-inflammatory effects.
