Ethyl 1-benzyl-3-oxopiperidine-4-carboxylate is a covalent inhibitor of dopamine receptors. It binds to the 5-HT4 receptor, which is involved in the regulation of neurotransmitter release. This drug has been shown to be a potent and selective ligand for the D4 receptor, which mediates the effects of dopamine on brain function. Ethyl 1-benzyl-3-oxopiperidine-4-carboxylate has been shown to have anticancer activity in animal models.
