Description:

4-(Ethoxymethyl)phenol is a compound that has been shown to have anticancer properties. It has been found to suppress the proliferation of human breast cancer cells and inhibit the growth of human prostate cancer cells in culture. 4-(Ethoxymethyl)phenol also induces apoptosis in MCF-7 cells. This compound has been shown to produce an antitumor effect by inhibiting fatty acid synthase, which is involved in lipid synthesis, and this effect may be due to its ability to inhibit the activity of acetyl-CoA carboxylase, which catalyzes fatty acid synthesis by converting acetyl-CoA into malonyl-CoA.
