Description:

Dodecyl-2-ethylsulfonic acid dimethylamide (DESDM) is a dodecyl sulfonamide that has been used in the pharmaceutical industry as a low molecular weight solvent. It can be used to dissolve low molecular weight compounds and is also used in the production of carbon tetrachloride, which is then used to produce other chemicals. Dodecyl-2-ethylsulfonic acid dimethylamide can be activated by irradiation or heat, with an activation energy of 36.6 kJ/mol. Dodecyl-2-ethylsulfonic acid dimethylamide has also been studied for its use as an antimicrobial agent due to its ability to inhibit bacterial growth and kill bacteria.
