Ethyl 7-bromo-4-chloroquinoline-3-carboxylate is an optimal inhibitor of protein kinase. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of both tyrosine and serine/threonine protein kinases. The compound inhibits the coupling of ATP to its natural substrate, which leads to inhibition of cellular activity. This product also inhibits enzymatic activity, specifically through the ethynyl group. The methoxy group prevents the binding of substrate and ATP, leading to a decrease in cellular activity.
