Description

Ethyl 2-methoxyacetate is an organic compound that is a derivative of ethylene diamine. It can be produced by the addition of hydrochloric acid to methyl acetate or by the reaction of methylamine and ethylene diamine. The kinetics of this reaction have been studied in detail and it has been found that the formation of ethyl 2-methoxyacetate is highly dependent on temperature and pressure, with the rate increasing as temperature increases. Ethyl 2-methoxyacetate has a hydroxyl group that can react with amines to form amides or imides. It also reacts with methyl ethyl ketone to produce methyl 3-hydroxypropanoate.
