Description:
Escin IA is a polyphenolic compound that belongs to the group of lignans. It is extracted from the roots of P. lobata and has been shown to have cytotoxic effects on HL-60 cells and kidney bean carcinoma cell lines. Escin IA inhibits body formation, inhibits the growth of mouse tumors, and prevents bacterial translocation in the intestine by inhibiting lipopolysaccharide-induced inflammation. It also has inhibitory effects on hepatic steatosis and caspase-independent cell death.
