Description

17β-Estradiol17-hemisuccinate is a water soluble ester of estradiol that is well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. It has been shown to be an effective treatment for bacterial vaginosis in women. 17β-Estradiol17-hemisuccinate has also been shown to block the uptake of adipose tissue by monoclonal antibodies and increase the effectiveness of ramipril, a drug used to lower blood pressure. 17β-Estradiol17-hemisuccinate has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of cerebellar purkinje neurons, which is important for motor function. The hormone also has anti-inflammatory effects and can inhibit the growth of certain types of tumors.
