Product Information
- Benzene, 1-ethynyl-4-heptyl-
1-Ethynyl-4-heptylbenzene is a molecule that has been shown to have potent anticancer activity. It is structurally related to pentabromophenol, which is an industrial chemical found in flame retardants. 1-Ethynyl-4-heptylbenzene induces the destabilisation of cancer cells and causes them to die by transferring electrons from biomolecules to electron deficient molecules, such as triazoles. This molecule also has relatively low toxicity for healthy cells. The anticancer activity of 1-ethynyl-4-heptylbenzene was first discovered when scientists found it to be present in a variety of plants.
