Description:
Ethyl 5-chlorothiophene-2-carboxylate is an organic compound with the chemical formula of C5H5ClO2. It is synthesized by a reaction of thiophene and ethyl chloroformate in an acidic solvent. It can be purified by recrystallization from an acidic ethyl ester or hydrochloride. The product has been shown to inhibit the activity of rivaroxaban, which is a factor Xa inhibitor that is used for the prevention and treatment of venous thrombosis.
