Description:
4-Ethoxy-6-methylpyrimidine is a hydrolyzed product of acetaldehyde. It can be obtained by the reaction of quinoline with chloride and enamines, or by the reaction of n-oxides with condition. The transformation of dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate into 4-ethoxy-6-methylpyrimidine is catalyzed by betaine in benzoyl chloride. 4-Ethoxy-6 methylpyrimidine can also be synthesized from dimethyl by the diketene method.
