Product Information
- 1-Ethynyl-4-Octylbenzene
- 4-Octylphenylacetylene
- Benzene, 1-ethynyl-4-octyl-
1-Eth-1-ynyl-4-(octyl)benzene is a polymerized molecule that fluoresces under ultraviolet light. It can be used to study membrane structures, as the emission wavelengths of these compounds are shorter than those of other fluorescent compounds. The quantum yield for 1-ethynyl-4-(octyl)benzene is 0.04. 1-Ethynyl-4-(octyl)benzene polymerizes with pyrrole to form polyacetylene, and it is one of the monomers in heterocycles. The 1-ethynyl-4-(octyl)benzene molecule has been shown to have fluorescence properties at room temperature, but at higher temperatures it reacts with oxygen to produce furan emissions.
