Ethyl oxazole-4-carboxylate is a potent anticancer agent that can be synthesized from various alkyl bromides. It has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. Ethyl oxazole-4-carboxylate binds to DNA through a covalent bond, which prevents the synthesis of RNA and protein, leading to cell death. This compound also inhibits the growth of tumour cells by alkylation and ligand binding.
