Description:
Ethyl4-acetyl-5-methylisoxazole-3-carboxylate is an analog of the neurotransmitter glutamate. It is a precursor to the amino acid methionine, which is used in protein synthesis and is essential for cell growth. The compound is synthesized by reacting ethyl acetoacetate with methyl iodide and hydrochloric acid.
