Eptazocine hydrobromide is a synthetic opioid analgesic which is used for the relief of moderate to severe pain, and also as an adjunct to general or regional anaesthesia. It is a prodrug that is converted in vivo to its active form, eptazocine. Eptazocine hydrobromide has been shown to be effective against diabetic neuropathy, with an effective dose of 25-50 mg every 4 hours. This drug can be administered by mouth or intravenously. The electron microscopic appearance of Eptazocine hydrobromide is that of a white crystalline powder with a molecular weight of 298.5 daltons and a molecular formula of C19H24BrNO2.
