N-Ethyl-1,3-propanediamine (NEPDA) is a chromatographic assay that is used to measure the concentration of endogenous or exogenous compounds in a sample. The reaction between NEPDA and the compound being measured produces an electron, which can be detected by a chromatographic analyzer. NEPDA has been shown to have high yields and linearity in bovine liver tissue. This compound also circumvents hydrolysis by esterases in bovine liver tissue. Gas-liquid chromatography has been used to measure the physiologically active diamine levels in bovine liver tissue. The elimination of NEPDA from the body is primarily through hydrolysis with aminopeptidase or dipeptidase enzymes.END>
