- Silane, ethyltrimethyl-
- Trimethylethylsilane
Ethyltrimethylsilane is a solvent that can be used in chromatographic and optical experiments. It has been shown to react with zirconium oxide, forming an antireflection film on the surface of the substrate. This process is reversible and can be repeated many times. Ethyltrimethylsilane also activates AMPK, which prevents the breakdown of muscle tissue in cancer cells. The reaction products of ethyltrimethylsilane have been shown to have metabolic effects, such as reducing cholesterol levels, increasing glucose uptake by muscles, and inhibiting tumor growth.
