Product Information
- 3-Thiomorpholinecarboxylic acid, ethyl ester
- Ethyl thiomorpholine-3-carboxylate
Ethyl thiomorpholine-3-carboxylate (ETMC) is a chaperone that binds to the enzyme imine oxidase and prevents it from binding to other proteins. It also has been shown to have anti-tumor activity against cancer cells. ETMC is synthesized through an imine reaction of ethylthiourea and morpholine, which is catalyzed by a variety of enzymes, including prostaglandin E2 synthase. ETMC has been shown to act as a ligand for isoforms of the estrogen receptor alpha (ERα), leading to inhibition of cell proliferation.
