Emamectine benzoate is a complex molecule that has both insecticidal and acaricidal properties. It is the active ingredient in a 10% water dispersible granule formulation for the control of insects such as cockroaches, ants, and flies. Emamectine benzoate acts by inhibiting the activity of certain enzymes that are needed for protein synthesis in insects. The effect of emamectine benzoate on these enzymes results in disruption of energy production, leading to paralysis and death. Emamectine benzoate can be used on crops, gardens, livestock, and pets. Emamectin benzoate is not toxic to mammals because it is not absorbed through the skin or via ingestion.
