2-Ethoxyacridine-6,9-diamine 2-hydroxypropionate anhydrous (2EA) is a water soluble polymer that can be used in biomedical applications. 2EA has been shown to have minimal toxicity and will not react with other biomolecules in the body. It can be used as a biocompatible material for drug delivery. The polymer has been shown to exhibit antimicrobial activity against Gram negative bacteria and fungi in a model system. 2EA is also effective against infectious diseases such as HIV, hepatitis B, and tuberculosis.
