Eprociclovir is a nucleoside analogue antiviral drug that is used to treat herpes simplex virus infections. It works by inhibiting viral DNA polymerase, which prevents the virus from replicating and spreading. Eprociclovir has a high degree of potency against herpes viruses, with a maximal effective concentration (EC50) of approximations. The molecular weight of eprociclovir is approximations and its space-filling model is approximations. Eprociclovir can be administered orally or intravenously for the treatment of herpetic eye disease, genital herpes, and neonatal herpes. Plasma concentrations are usually measured in micromolar units. Pharmacokinetic properties depend on the nature of the virus being treated, as well as other factors such as age and health status.
